Seeing
From The Heart

Children see naturally from
the heart. Their world, always new and
alive, is exciting and full of adventure. Curiosity motivates their
exploration. Change comes naturally - after all, the real adventure is never
knowing what will happen next!
Then we grow up - and forget
to "follow our heart." And, we suffer with inner anxiety. Eventually
this stress, translates into lack of mental, emotional, and visual clarity,
leading us into a visual blur. If that stress is in relation to our world
"out there," we become nearsighted, but if our tension is close to
home - for example, personal relationships, or identity issues, farsightedness
is developed. Therefore, how we imagine ourselves seeing our world, either
consciously or unconsciously is exactly HOW we see our world. See how simple?
To the "eyes are the
windows of the soul," it might be added: "vision is the mind looking
through." We see our world as a whole human being, with our entire
body/mind. HOW we see is a metaphor for our entire life, yet, most of us have
never made the connection.
In our culture of "fast
fix" we often forget we are the ones who actually author almost all of our
vision problems. The good news is this also means we can do something about it.
All we need is someone who knows the way back and is willing to teach us how to
recover the clarity of the innocent heart. By retracing those erroneous
footsteps that caused the blur, we can return to clarity.
Our world is an inside job -
a reflection of what we see from the mind's eye. Healing our sight is also an
inside job. We use our eyes as a navigational system to see, guide, warn and
keep the physical body safe. Central
and peripheral vision work in harmony. However, when we wear glasses or
contacts, we diminish a magnificent part of vision. Closing off peripheral
vision shuts down the sensing, feeling, and intuitive part of seeing.
"Doesn't everyone's
vision eventually go bad - isn't it a natural part of growing older?" Even
though the lens of the eye may become less flexible with age mostly due to
accumulated stress, the eye is resilient.
Dr. Bates proved long ago that the lens was NOT the main element in the physics
of our eye that determines our ability to see at all distances, i.e.
accommodation. After years of research
and removing the lens of the eye during surgery, he discovered his patients
could STILL see at least 75% of their ability. He discovered that the muscles
around the eye are much more important for the function of accommodation, not
the lens.
SO, the answer is: NO! It
has nothing to do with our age, rather with the accumulation of mental
eyestrain and stress resulting in a visual blur. Then we get on a merry
go-round of wearing glasses or contacts and - surprise! - The eyesight
continues to get worse!
We forget that wounding the
heart caused this situation that we now call
"normal." The wounding (or stressful event or circumstance)
was unconscious, whether at age 8, 14, 35 or 48.
This happens subtly,
sometimes traumatically, more often slowly, as we try to see our world the way
we want it to be, or avoid looking at it the way it is. This throws us into
stress which equals blur.
It is the heart that sees.
It is relinquishing the misunderstanding or denial of our true perception that
helps us restore our sight. Since stress was the problem in the first place,
undoing the reaction within us to that situation that affected us is necessary.
Relearning organically in the way the body understands inherently, is a more
natural way to helping yourself see better, I do not teach an eye exercise
program. Relearn seeing properly--let
nature do the rest!
Relaxation is the key.
Proper and natural vision habits relax and restore flexibility to the muscles
around our eyes, causing vision to normalize. Anyone, at any age, can relearn
to see. The innocence and playfulness, curiosity and alive-ness are often just
a "blink of an eye" away. If you want to learn how to see again,
without glasses, contacts, or surgery call me. I'd love to help you bring your
world back into focus, from your heart.
